Time varying error behavior in super-size floor type boring machines

Abstract

Time varying 3D volumetric error analysis of a super-size floor type boring machine is conducted through kinematic error modeling of its shape and joint elements. Time constants and gains of deformation transfer functions of them are formulated from CAD and heat transfer information. Using discrete equivalents of the transfer functions, 3D thermal error is estimated regarding environmental and cutting conditions.
