Abstract

Now, more than ever, precise workmanship is required for high-rises, intelligent buildings, warehouses operated by air pallets, and other advanced facilities. For precise workmanship in building construction, flatness and levelness are important factors. However, since the importance of flatness and levelness is often underestimated, costly results occur. The introduction of new technologies in level surveying have the potential to help achieve more precise construction, increase productivity, and improve quality. The main purposes of this paper are: 1) to discuss the importance of level surveying in building construction, 2) to review the currently available level surveying equipment in the market, and 3) to evaluate the leveling devices through a systematic comparison.
