KAERI beam line at the SNU-AMS tandem accelerator and its application

Abstract

We have installed a new beam line at the AMS (Accelerator Mass Spectrometry) facility at the Inter-University Center for Natural Science Research Facilities of Seoul National University as a first step in the feasibility study for the applications of KOMAC (KOrea Multipurpose Accelerator Complex) project. The line consist of the two electric dipoles, a magnetic quadrupole doublet, two AC scan magnets, a reaction chamber, an irradiation chamber, an vacuum system, and power supplies. As industrial applications, we will apply an ion beam process for surface modification of polymers by using high current injector technology, an explosive detection mechanism, and a power semiconductor development by using MeV accelerator technology.
