Abstract

An electrically small top-loaded mono-cone antenna with a ring slot is proposed. By employing the monocone with top-hat, slot, shorting pins, and cylinder elements, the miniaturization is achieved. By connecting the shorting pins from the mono-cone top-hat to the ground plane, the antenna bandwidth at the low frequency limit is expanded. The slot inside the top-hat improves the impedance matching in the high-frequency band. Furthermore, by employing the cylinder elements, the impedance matching at the mid and high frequency bands is improved. The -10 dB reflection coefficient bandwidth of the proposed antenna is ranging from 0.52 GHz to 1.74 GHz.
