Abstract
A reflective type of a vertically aligned deformed-helix ferroelectric liquid crystal (VA-DHFLC) display with one polarizer is proposed. An optical retardation film was introduced into the reflective configuration to obtain the enhanced electro-optic (EO) characteristics. The reflective VA-DHFLC display was found to exhibit high contrast, excellent brightness, and fast response.
