3-D velocity field tomography using multiple plane detectors and high order correlation analysis

Abstract

A method for direct measurement of the three-dimensional velocity field by using multiple plane detectors and corresponding high-order cross-correlation analysis is proposed. The information about the velocity field is detected by the multiple plane detectors, and its three-dimensional structure is reconstructed by the corresponding high-order cross-correlation analysis. Preliminary experiments using a 4.5-MHz ultrasonic wave system in a water tank were carried out in order to confirm the usefulness of this method. The principles of the proposed method and the results obtained are shown.
